Volunteers and our crew will work pour and finish one concrete foundation . Once we pour the concrete, specialized skills such as screeding will come into play, but no experience is necessary to participate in these training opportunities! If you’re interested in helping with this project please sign up and join us! The opportunities are scheduled to run from 6 am until 11 am but finish time will vary. Volunteers and crew will meet on site at Fischer Village on the Q street side.
PLEASE NOTE: The concrete foundation will be poured for one of our tandems on Q street. However, there is no parking on Q street, so please park on R street and walk down the driveway and through the fencing by the bioswale.
As this is a concrete-specific opportunity, work will be greatly weather dependent! f you sign up for a shift, please check the email we have on file with your volunteer profile the morning of your opportunity before heading out to Fischer Village! Should weather dictate a day-of cancellation, we will have an email in your inbox letting you know by 8 am on the morning of the opportunity. We want to see you on site, but as always, we have to ensure the day’s work can be accomplished safely and effectively.
If you join us, please dress for the weather and task at hand and wear closed-toe shoes on site. All necessary tools will be provided, but please bring a water bottle and lunch. If you choose to bring your own tools (hammer, gloves, tool belt), please mark them with your name. You will receive safety and other instructions on site from Construction Manager John Aaron, so that you can fully participate in the project.
